My name is Sergej, I am 37. I was born in Irkutsk, Russia and currently live in Berlin. I am a professional photographer. I came to Germany in 1998 because my ancestors were Germans.

What was the worst experience in Germany so far?

I’d say various German “Amte”: public offices, institutions and all the bureaucratic places where one needs to register…

What is it that you dislike here?

I dislike my neighbour upstair – she makes so much noise and does not let me sleep in the morning.

Do you feel accepted in Germany?

Yes, once I’ve mastered the language and have learnt the regulations.

What stereotypes about Germans have been confirmed?

I’d say that Germans are hard-working, polite and their beer tastes good! Their punctuality is a myth though…

Anything else you wish to add?

I wish that German media (journalists, TV etc.) gave a true and objective picture of Russia!
