My name is Yura and I come from Russia. I am currently a PhD student studying chemistry in Cologne. I have a Ukrainian girlfriend.
According to the international law the referendum in Crimea is illegal. When the powers are not equal, unfortunately we see that the international law does not work. The Russian president has a great support in Russia regarding the Crimean referendum, but I am sure if you stop showing propaganda on the state-run TV channels, his support will slowly disappear. What kind of a referendum is it? Russian troops everywhere…international observers not even allowed…no romantics involved!
Do you think the economy of Russia will suffer if and when Crimea backs joining the Russian Federation and seceding from Ukraine?
I’d be really surprised if things get better…
Today a Russian opinion of the current crisis.
