Hi there! My name is Max, I’m a “Wahl Berliner” (Berliner by choice – ed.) since 2007. Probably the easiest way to describe myself is to say that I am German with international background. I was born and raised in a German family, in a small Asian country Kyrgyzstan. Now my family is here and Berlin, which is actually not 100 % Germany, is my home. To the question “How often do you go “home”?”, which is usually the second most common question asked after “Where do you come from?”, I do answer “almost every night”, which can be very confusing because usually people without international background do not immigrate with their families, burning all bridges behind them and letting a new place become their home. I think such things as nationality and background will become more and more important because of the globalization, at the end it’s typical to humans to have a need to belong to a certain group and at the same time try to be unique.
In Berlin I’m working as a project manager in a start-up and Postrwall blog about live music in Berlin is one of my experiments in the internet. Everything started with a hackathon, where we (me together with some colleagues) had developed a live music discovery app, but at the end, instead of developing a fully working app, we decided to focus on the community and started the Postrwall blog. I’m running (to be read as pushing) it just because I like live music and always happy to meet interesting musician from all parts of the world. The blog is still in its self-realization process and I do not really know where it will end up, but stay tuned and you will get more interesting stuff about live music scene in Berlin and abroad.
