I miss a bit my city in Sicily, but mostly I miss my family and friends! I guess it is the price we have to pay to build our future in Germany or anywhere abroad, we had no alternatives, but I do understand those people who do not feel like getting away from their loved ones.
I am a very sociable and talkative person, I miss the chance to chat in my own language and be understood.
I currently live in a city of about 43 thousand inhabitants and I live in the centre, I like the parks, people who go around on bikes….. I actually find Germans very friendly and available at any moment, but sometimes they can be extremely picky 😉
The pace of life is completely different from what you find in Italy. For example, the shops in Germany open at 9:30 and close at 19, on Saturday even before; while Sundays everything is closed. The Sunday rest is sacred here!
The language is the only obstacle that I’m facing right now, but I attend German courses and I am confident about the future!
I do not know if one day I return to Italy, perhaps we stay here for some time or we go elsewhere, but the idea of creating a family and having children who speak both German and Italian attracts me 😉 .
